Phone rings.
It’s her voice,
a cold wisp
slipping through
the cracks
of the night.

She says, “Stop.
You’re too dark,
too broken,
too much for me.”

I sigh, exhaling
the shadows within.
The weight of my past
lingers on my tongue.

In silence,
our connection fades.
Love, a fleeting whisper,
dissolves into static.

I hold the receiver,
a lifeline severed,
and surrender
to my own darkness.

Click.
Goodbye
