During this period, I’m certain everyone has passed by something that’s more traumatising than the pandemic we’re all experiencing. You might wonder what could be more drastic than this pandemic, and I am sorry to provide our “humanity” as the answer.

From the increasing rates of domestic violence, to the infuriating number of cases in harassment and rapes, to racism, to the horrific problems we’ve been facing for so long that some of them are normalized as a cultural issue, to obstacles we cross at some point of our lives and emerge in a stronger version of ourselves, to the too-familiar phrases like bullying.

The problem here isn’t about a bully, or a racist, or a rapist…the problem is deeper. The problem is the fact that being inhuman has been normalized to the point where they are constantly striking, and growing like a monster in the video game that grows stronger with the more lives it takes, except that these lives are real and this is not a video game. Our reality has become a maze in which surviving is your target, trying not to get attacked by those who look like humans but feel nothing like them, and the challenge is how you get by.

We’re all different, but I am sure you and I can agree on one thing and that is how badly we need peace, beauty, safety, and the ability to trust others to stop being so rare. We all need a better, more humane world to grow in, and this is why we need to say no. If you spot a bully, take action. If you spot a rapist, take action. If nobody around seems to want to do something about it, then it’s about time you start to stand up for yourself, for you are as powerful as you believe yourself to be.

It is never too late to start saying no, to start building walls with our stories and trapping them inside so for once WE become the majority, because this is how it should be, and this is what we are, if we all start today.

P.S.: Do not let anyone talk you out of your anger, stand still and fight for your rights, they weren’t humane, for you to be forgiving!

  1. You are so right and we need to fight the bully who sometimes gets away by resorting to emotional aggressiveness that cower us down. Many times I didn’t react but yes it’s important to voice out.

    1. Thank you, and yes it is, we need to stand up for ourselves.
